Estate planning professionals in the Webster County area

July 7, 2017
Farm News

The Webster County ISU Extension office will be hosing an "Evaluating Your Estate Plan" workhop on Wednesday, July 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the extension's office in Fort Dodge.

The "Evaluating Your Estate Plan" workshop has been very popular all across Iowa. Families and individuals leave the program with a list of goals intended to move them to take specific action to update their estate and transition plans.

Program participants learn or review the basics of estate and transition planning, consider and discuss their own goals, and determine what specific steps they should take to achieve those goals. One of the major goals may be to encourage families to start having family meetings and conversations about their future plans.

Iowa State University professionals spend considerable time encouraging attendees to build their local professional estate and transition planning team.We do not make particular recommendations, but encourage attendees to work with the local professionals in their areas. We explain that their estate planning team may include the following types of professionals:

- Attorneys

- Insurance professionals

- Farm Managers

- Bankers

- Tax & accounting professionals

- Financial advisors

- Real Estate professionals

- Spiritual or other personal advisors

Meeting information will also be available through the Webster County ISU Extension website: www.extension.iastate.edu/webster.
