Childish

By Staff | Jul 12, 2012

To the editor,

I think making petty demands based on short-term needs with no concern for the future is childish.

The whining for a farm bill from public figures like David Kruse in the June 22 Farm News, is far more childish than some members of Congress delaying action on that monstrosity.

If farmers need a safety net they should provide it themselves and so should every other business. Crop insurance, for instance, should be financed entirely from premiums paid by farmers.

The malinvestment caused by subsidies, mandates or tariffs ultimately will cost consumers more and reserve a space at the government teat for the well connected.
